Recalibrating Your Values

I think I can speak for at least for the nurses I work with that there are parts of our job that annoy us! Like for instance, operating the controls on the glucometer. A glucometer is a little machine that is used to get a patient’s blood sugar. There is a hardstop every 24 hours that the operator cannot go around to run a low and high control. Is it hard? No. Does it take long? No. Do either of those things matter? No. It annoys us, ok?!

Yet running the controls is important. It checks the little machine’s inner workings to make sure an accurate value results. It’s important to know if a blood sugar is too low, too high, or just right — right?

Maybe running some controls from time to time on our own lives would be a good idea. Maybe even every 24 hours. Checking on our values. Our inner workings. What are we too low on? Compassion? Patience? The good sense God gave us? Are we too high on things that don’t matter? Are our values wrong or are they right-eous?

The Great Operator will run controls on us. In fact, he really wants, even desires, to. He wants us to come to Him, call upon Him, ask Him. And when we need it, and we usually do, He will recalibrate us. He will make our lows, high. And our highs, low. He will give us just and right values. And amazingly, He won’t even be annoyed!
