Here’s Some Advice for You!

Advice. Do you like getting it? Do you take it or leave it? Sometimes if we ask for advice, we like it! šŸ¤“ If we donā€™t ask for it, then watch out! šŸ˜”

Jesus has given us so many promises. Heā€™s given us words of comfort. Heā€™s given us sound guidance. All those words are packed into our brains. But, life…

It happens. And life happened to the authors of Lamentations. I try to be more up than down, but I get the book of laments. I appreciate this book of moaning and weeping and complaint. My phoneā€™s introduction to Lamentations says, ā€œOverall, this collection of laments reminds us that expressing anguish over a broken, fallen world is a legitimate part of biblical drama.ā€

And 2019 drama!

I find one of the best pieces of simple, practical advice EVER in the middle of this wailing!

ā€œThis I call to mind.ā€ (Lamentations 3:21)

Call it to mind! Purposefully. Intentionally. Bring it to the front of your brain and think about it! Ponder it. Rehearse it. Recite it. Remember it! Call it to mind.

His mercy. His compassion. His faithfulness. His newness. His goodness. His salvation.

Whether we asked for it or not, itā€™s great advice from the weeping prophet! Call His assurances to your mind today! Go ahead! Take it! At least thatā€™s my advice! šŸ˜ƒ
