The Alpha and Omega

I am a planner. I don’t like my future to be unsettled.

For months I have been praying about where to attend college, what career path to take, whether or not to play basketball in college, where I will make lifetime friends, etc. I’ve wanted a visible sign from God—the name of the college written in the sky. That’s what I was waiting for. Yet, every time I looked up, I didn’t see a thing. If God would just choose the college for me to attend I would have no excuses. I would know where I was supposed to be. Decisions would be easier, failures would be avoided, and successes would be assured.

The people of Judah also wanted to know what the future had in store, so they tried to discern it by reading the signs in the sky (Jeremiah 10:2). My Bible commentary reads that “No one will discover the future in man-made charts of God’s stars.” But the amazing thing is that we serve a God who knows our future and will be walking with us as we enter into it. I don’t know where I’m meant to be, but I’m confident I’ll end up where HE wants me, and at the time He wants me there.

We can’t look to the stars for the answers to our questions; we must look to the One who made the stars. The Alpha and Omega He is— yes, my Savior is the Beginning and the End!
