Mysterious Things

We have covered many miles on our “Journey to Glacier” summer vacation! Road trips to explore new areas are always an adventure. New sights and experiences induce interesting conversations and deep pondering of mysterious things!

Dinosaurs

We met up with a knife-buddy of Tom’s who has discovered dinosaur bones on his Wyoming ranch. Dinosaurs! Triceratops! On. His. Land. How cool is that? Dinosaurs! They are a mystery! Were they all created? Or some genetically modified by antediluvians? In the ark? Out of the ark? Hmmm…interesting!

Devils Tower

We visited Devils Tower in Wyoming for the first time. It’s an extremely unique and mysterious sudden protrusion of rock out of the rolling prairie. Scientists say it is a volcanic “plug,” although it really does look like a gigantic tree stump! Which brought wild conversations about giant trees, giant people, and even giant mushrooms!? Hmmm…interesting!

Glaciers

Glacier National Park was amazingly beautiful! Scientists say the glaciers are melting and they’re  down from 150 to less than 40. An Ice Age millions of years ago carving out the mountains and leaving glaciers behind does not fit with my Creationist, young-earth world view. Was Noah’s flood so much more then just a lot of water? Was the upheaval of the Earth so severe it totally rearranged landscapes and changed climates?  Hmmm…interesting!

The Badlands

Are we on the moon? Another planet? Or South Dakota? The Badlands is a dramatic landscape for sure! But erosion for millions of years? Again, it doesn’t fit. When and how were these towering rocky spires formed? To me at least, it’s a mystery! Hmmm…interesting!

Heaven

Where is it?  How do we get there? Through a black hole? What will it actually look like? I definitely don’t know the answers to this mystery! But when we get there, I hope there are some “heavenly DVDs” so we can see exactly how all these wonders were created and formed. It will be so fascinating for these mysteries to be explained! For months, I looked forward to our Journey to Glacier. I am all the more looking forward to our Journey to Heaven!
